This article describes how to install, start, and use the Microsoft CRM Mobile Certificate Diagnostics Tool to troubleshoot certificate installation.

INTRODUCTION

The Microsoft® Business Solutions CRM Mobile Certificate Diagnostics Tool is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center. With the certificate diagnostics tool, you can determine whether the server certificate is installed correctly on the server and the mobile device, and identify problems that will prevent mobile devices from connecting to the Microsoft CRM server.

Microsoft has scanned these files for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that these files were posted. These files are stored on security-enhanced servers that prevent any unauthorized changes to these files.

Prerequisites

To install this tool, you must have Microsoft CRM version 1.2 and Microsoft CRM Mobile version 1.2 installed. In addition, you must connect your device to your Microsoft CRM server, and establish a partnership with the device on the server by using Microsoft ActiveSync® version 3.7.1 or later.

Installation

Perform the following procedure to install this tool on your Microsoft CRM server:
  1. On your Microsoft CRM server, double-click CRMMobile1.2-KB840224-Server.exe.
  2. Specify the folder for the extracted files, and then click OK. This can be any location on your Microsoft CRM server.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart your computer after you install this tool.

Removal information

To remove this tool, delete the CertDiag.exe file from the folder you specified when you extracted the files.

The English version of this tool has the file attributes that are listed in the following table. The date and time for this file are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

How to use the Microsoft CRM Mobile Certificate Diagnostics Tool

  1. After meeting the prerequisites listed previously, in the folder where you unzipped the download files, double-click CertDiag.exe.
  2. Click Verify Certificates. Look for any fields that indicate No and in the detailed error messages displayed at the bottom of the page.
  3. In the From Server column, click each button to open Internet Explorer and view specific pages. Verify that you can see the expected page.
  4. In the From Device column, click each button to open Internet Explorer and view specific pages. Verify that you can see the expected page, without seeing a security alert message box.
