FIX: The DeleteExpiredSessions stored procedure causes performance problems in the .NET Framework 1.1 (840175)

SYMPTOMS

The DeleteExpiredSessions stored procedure is included in the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 InstallPersistSqlState.sql template. If a program calls the DeleteExpiredSessions stored procedure, you may experience the following performance problems:
  • The execution time is about 0.8 seconds.
  • The physical resource pressure is 8,000 logical reads, or 64 MB.
  • The stored procedure runs every minute.

RESOLUTION

Software update information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
