Event ID 8 appears in the system event log after you break a mirrored volume in Windows Server 2003 (840165)

SYMPTOMSAfter you create a software RAID volume in Microsoft Windows Server 2003, when you break that volume, the following event appears in the system event log:Event Type: Error

Computer: computername Description: The flush and hold writes operation on volume C: timed out while waiting for a
release writes command.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if you break the software redundant array of independent disks (RAID) volume by using the Diskpart tool. This event appears because of a problem in the Windows Server 2003 Logical Disk Administrative Service (DmAdmin).WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, ignore this event. This event does not indicate that there is a problem in Windows.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
