may not see the Message Queuing icon in Control Panel after an
installation.CAUSE During the installation of Message Queuing, if you provide a Fully
Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) for the supporting server, the Message Queuing Control
Panel item cannot read this FQDN from the following registry value:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters\RemoteQMMachine
Therefore, the Message Queuing icon does not appear in any user interface in Control
Panel.RESOLUTIONWarning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry
Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To
resolve the problem, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
The Run dialog box appears. - In the
Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
The Registry Editor window appears. - Locate the following subkey. Click the following
subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSMQ\Parameters - In the right pane of Registry Editor, right-click
RemoteQMMachine, and then click Modify.
The
Edit String dialog box appears. - Set the RemoteQMMachine entry value to
<ComputerName>.
Note The <ComputerName>placeholder is a placeholder
for the computer name without the domain name of your domain
controller. For example, if your computer name is <ComputerName>.microsoft.com, use only the computer name <ComputerName>. - Quit Registry Editor.
