SYMPTOMSWhen you try to install Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2001 on a server that is running Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 (SP4) or later, you may receive the following error message: Failed to meet the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (MSJVM) installation requirement. When this problem occurs, you cannot continue the installation. CAUSEThis problem occurs because Windows 2000 SP4 and later do not include the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine.
The MCMS 2001 installation wizard detects whether the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is installed. However, because Windows 2000 SP4 and later do not include the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine, the installation wizard cannot detect the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine on the server.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, follow these steps: - Install Windows 2000 SP4 or later on the server.
- Install the MCMS 2001 Server component on the server. Do not install Site Builder.
- Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt to open a command prompt window.
- Change the directory to the directory that contains the MCMS 2001 Setup program files.
- Start the MCMS 2001 installation wizard by using a command that instructs the installation wizard to continue the installation process regardless of the results of prerequisite checks. To do this, type the following command at the command prompt, and then press ENTER:
"mscms server.msi" NOCHECK=Yes Note Make sure that you include the quotation marks ("), and make sure that the capitalization is correct. - Follow the instructions in the installation wizard. You receive an error message on the Third Party Software Requirements page of this installation wizard. The error message states that the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine version 5.0 or later is not installed. When you receive this error message, click Next to continue the installation process.
- Continue to follow the instructions in the installation wizard. When you receive the following error message, click Ignore to continue the installation process:
Error 1904.Module C:\Programe Files\Microsoft Content Management Server\Shared Files\AEJavaProxy.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147221164. Contact your support personnel. - When the installation process has completed, apply the latest service packs for MCMS 2001.
- After you have applied all service packs for MCMS 2001, install Site Builder on the server that is running MCMS 2001 or on a separate client computer.
Note Because the Microsoft Java Virtual Machine is not installed, you must install the Refresh version of MCMS 2001 Site Builder. To obtain the Refresh version of MCMS 2001 Site Builder, see the "More information" section.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
