The Qafilter.sys driver consumes lots of paged pool memory on Windows Storage Server 2003 (840141)

SYMPTOMS

During file backup or other similar activities where numerous files are accessed, the Qafilter.sys driver may leak paged-pool memory. This memory leak may affect stability and may cause blue-screen errors. This memory leak may also cause the system to become unresponsive.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
