The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft QuickBASIC Compiler for the Apple Macintosh 1.0
- Microsoft QuickBASIC Compiler for the Apple Macintosh 1.0a
- Microsoft QuickBASIC Compiler for the Apple Macintosh 1.0b
This article was previously published under Q84557 SUMMARY
Under Apple System 7.0.n with 32-bit addressing set ON, QuickBasic for
the Macintosh will fail. The particular error depends on the hardware.
This information applies to Microsoft QuickBasic versions 1.0, 1.0a,
and 1.0b for the Apple Macintosh.
The following hardware causes problems when used with System 7 and
32-bit addressing turned on:
- With an Apple Macintosh LC, the binary version of QuickBasic
will work, but the decimal version will return a "BUS
ERROR" and crash when you try to compile.
- With an Apple Quadra Model 700 or 900, the QuickBasic binary and
decimal versions will not run at all.
- With an Apple Powerbook Model 170, QuickBasic runs correctly.
Workaround
To run QuickBasic on these systems, turn off the 32-bit addressing
from the System Control Panel and restart the system.
