Works: Printing the First Page Only of a Multipage Form Letter (84390)
This article was previously published under Q84390
SUMMARY
In Microsoft Works version 2.0 for Windows, you cannot print only the
first page of a form letter for each record in a database by selecting
the Pages option and specifying pages 1 to 1 in the Print dialog box.
If you use this technique, only one page will print.
MORE INFORMATION
During a form letter merge, Works internally calculates page numbers
for every page that will be generated. The internally calculated page
number increments as the print job commences. For this reason, page 1
is actually the first page of the entire job.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, create a new word processing document
that contains only the first page of the multipage form letter using
the following steps:
- Select the text on the first page of the existing form letter.
- From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
- From the File menu, choose Open New File, and choose the Word
Processor button.
- From the Edit menu, choose Paste.
- Make any necessary changes to the margins in the new document.
- From the File menu, choose Print Form Letters, select the All
option in the Print dialog box, then choose the OK button.
