In Microsoft Project, when you choose the Goto Overallocation button (or Goto Next Overallocation in 3.0), Microsoft Project starts its search at the date that appears one quarter to the right of the visible Gantt chart timeline. If no overallocations occur after this date, you may receive the following error message:
No resource overallocation starts after <date> at <time>

The Gantt chart timeline position of one quarter to the right of the visible timeline is considered the "key date." The key date is where the
current date line is displayed when you open Microsoft Project. This allows
you to see the desired date along with some of the chart to the left of
this date.
The key date area is where the Goto command (on the Edit menu) shows the requested destination date. Therefore, if an overallocation is found, it is displayed one quarter from the left as well. The Goto Next Overallocation button starts its search at this same point so that it will continue where it left off (unless the timeline has been manually scrolled).
