Rollup information

This update rollup addresses the following problems:

• When you try to create a new management agent (MA) for a computer that is running Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 and that has had its data and schema settings migrated from iPlanet Directory Server 4.x, the connection to the Sun ONE Directory Server computer may fail. You may receive the following error message:

  The management agent run was terminated as there were unspecified management agent errors.

  (Sun ONE Directory Server 5.1 was formerly iPlanet Directory Server.)
  
  This problem occurs when the Sun ONE Directory Server schema is modified from an iPlanet 4.x schema format to a Sun ONE Directory 5.2 schema format. This scenario creates an element that the MIIS schema parser cannot successfully parse. Specifically, the element that causes problems for the parser is:

  ( 2.5.4.35 NAME 'userpassword' DESC 'Standard LDAP attribute type' EQUALITY 'octetStringMatch' SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40{128}' X-ORIGIN 'RFC 2256' )

  The iPlanet 4.x format is:

  ( 2.5.4.35 NAME 'userPassword' DESC 'Standard Attribute' SYNTAX '1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.5' )

  The Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 format is:

  ( 2.5.4.35 NAME 'userPassword' DESC 'Standard LDAP attribute type' EQUALITY octetStringMatch SYNTAX 1.3.6.1.4.1.1466.115.121.1.40{128} X-ORIGIN 'RFC 2256' )

• If you use the backward schema compatibility for iPlanet 4.x setting in Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2, you may not see the problem. However, after you remove this setting, you may receive the error when you try to run the MA or when you try to update the schema. When you try to create a new Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 MA, you will be unsuccessful. The best way to confirm that the problem is caused by an iPlanet 4.x schema that was migrated is to export the Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 schema and to look for the offending element.
  
  After you apply this update rollup, the parser will successfully read the Sun ONE Directory Server 5.2 schema.
