SYMPTOMS

You notice that split information is not retained when a scheduled payment is recorded to the register in Microsoft Money.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the payment is scheduled as an automatic payment (Apay).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, record the payment as an electronic payment (Epay) in Money. To create an Epay, follow these steps:
  1. On the Accounts & Bills menu, click Account List.
  2. Click the account where you want to create an Epay.
  3. Click Make an electronic payment or transfer, and then click Make an electronic payment.
  4. Type the required payment information.
  5. To send the payment immediately, click Submit Payment. To submit the payment later, click Save Draft.
To make an Epay a recurring transaction, follow these steps:
  1. Click Account List, and then click the account that contains the Epay that you want to make a recurring transaction.
  2. Right-click the Epay that you want to schedule, and then click Add to Bills & Deposits.
  3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to create the Epay.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

When you schedule a payment as an Epay, Money retains the split information when the payment is posted to the account register. For example, when you send a mortgage payment as an Epay, Money uses retained interest and principal information to generate more detailed reports.
