Some messages are suspended after you deploy an orchestration in BizTalk Server 2004 (838692)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, when you deploy an orchestration, any messages that may already be present in the location that is specified by the receive location of the orchestration are picked up and then suspended.

CAUSE

When you deploy an orchestration, the receive location for the orchestration is auto-enabled. With the receive location set as auto-enabled, messages are picked up immediately. However, the orchestration is not yet enlisted. Therefore, the Messaging Engine suspends the messages.

Note You can view the state of the messages with the Health and Activity Tracking (HAT) tool.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use the HAT tool to save the messages and then resubmit them.
