You cannot start SharePoint Portal Server Administration and you receive error messages when you try to connect to the SharePoint Portal Server 2001 workspace (838678)

Unable to open the SharePoint Portal Server ServerName - When you try to connect to the workspace by using Web folders, you receive the following error message:
The query cannot be completed because of the error (0x800401f3) Invalid class
string - When you try to connect to the server by using a network place shortcut, you receive the following error message:
The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please
choose another.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if incorrect registry entries are present in the following registry subkey: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers
In a default installation of SharePoint Portal Server 2001, only the following registry entry is present: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers\{E1D2BF40-
A96B-11d1-9C6B-0000F875AC61}
This issue may occur if registry entries in addition to the {E1D2BF40-
A96B-11d1-9C6B-0000F875AC61}
entry exist on the server. For example, this issue may occur if both the following registry entries exist on the server: - HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers\{E1D2BF40-

- HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers\System\Cur
rentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, export, and then delete the incorrect registry entries that are present in the following registry subkey: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers
Important Make sure that you export and delete only the incorrect registry entries that are present in subkey. Do not delete the following registry entry: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers\{E1D2BF40-

To export, and then delete the incorrect registry entries that are present in the following registry subkey: Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Export the registry key that you want to delete. To do so:
- Click the registry entry that you want to export, and then on the File menu, click Export.
For example, if the following registry entry exists on the server, export the key to a .reg file:HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers\System\Cur
rentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters
- In the Export Registry File dialog box, specify a file name and location where you want to export the file, and the click Save.
- In Registry Editor, right-click the registry entry that you exported earlier in step 2, and then click Delete.
- When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
- Repeat step 3 and step 4 for each incorrect registry entry that is present in the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Microsoft\MasterAggregatorForIPP\OleDbHandlers
- Quit Registry Editor.
- Restart the server.
