You cannot schedule a shutdown task or a restart task from the Web UI (838643)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Server Appliance Kit (SAK), version 2.01

SYMPTOMS

You cannot schedule a Shutdown/Restart task from the Microsoft Server Appliance Kit Web UI.

When you try to schedule a shutdown task or a restart task by means of the Web UI, the task fails silently. Additionally, the task does not appear on the Shutdown Related Alerts section of Shutdown tab of the Web UI.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Start a Terminal Services session to the server appliance, and then create a scheduled task (or an At job). To do so, run the following command at a command prompt:

    %system%\system32\ServerAppliance\Web\Shutdown\Support\taskshutdown.exe [SHUTDOWN | RESTART]

  • If the server is a member of a domain, log on to the Web UI by using a domain account that is a member of the domain administrators group. You can then schedule the shutdown/restart task.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
