The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Web Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, 64-Bit Enterprise Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Microsoft System Information tool (Msinfo32.exe) at a command prompt and specify the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of a computer, the output lists the Resource, Device, and Status columns. However, the Device column is blank. For example, if you type Msinfo32 /computer your_computer_name.fqdn_path /report c:\fqdn.txt at a command prompt, where your_computer_name.fqdn_path is the FQDN of your computer, the Fqdn.txt file contains output that is similar to the following:
 [DMA]
 Resource Device Status
 Channel 4 OK
 Channel 2 OK

 [I/O]
 Resource Device Status
 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 OK
 0x00000000-0x00000CF7 OK
 0x00000D00-0x0000FFFF OK
 0x000003B0-0x000003BB OK

 [IRQs]
 Resource	Device	Status
 IRQ 9 OK
 IRQ 16 OK
 IRQ 16 OK
 IRQ 18 OK
 IRQ 17 OK
However, if you type Msinfo32 /computer your_computer_name /report c:\non-fqdn.txt at a command prompt, where your_computer_name is the name of your computer, all three columns are populated in the Non-fqdn.txt file.
