You receive a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration "INVALID_TABLE" error message in Event Viewer when you shut down your computer (838370)

For information about how to back up, restore, and edit the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 256986 Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry SYMPTOMSYou may receive a Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) 2004 error message that is similar to the following in the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Event Viewer when you shut down your computer: ERROR_INVALID_TABLE (0x65c) CAUSEThis problem may occur when the ISA server cache file is too large to shutdown in the time that Microsoft Windows Server 2003 permits. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, increase the timeout value of the WaitToKillServiceTimeout registry key. Warning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. To increase the timeout value, follow these steps: - Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type Regedit, and then click OK.
- In Registry Editor, expand the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control - Click Control, right-click WaitToKillServiceTimeout, and then click Modify in the right pane.
Note The default value is 20000. The value 20000 is equivalent to 20 seconds. - Increase the value to a number that is larger than 20000 to increase the timeout of the service.
- Save the registry setting.
- Quit Registry Editor.
