INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2000 issue that is fixed in the Microsoft Outlook post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix package that is dated March 25, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Outlook 2000 may quit unexpectedly when you try to view the Contacts address book. You do not receive an error message.

    This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
    • You have Microsoft Office 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed on your computer.
    • You add a contact to the Contacts address book when the contact already exists, and then you choose to update the existing contact information.

      For example, you may experience this problem after you follow these steps:
      1. You reply to an e-mail message.
      2. You right-click the sender's name in the To field, and then click Add to Contacts.

        The contact already exists in the Contacts address book.
      3. You update the contact information, and then click Save and Close.
      4. You click Update new information from this contact to the existing one, and then you click OK.
      After you follow these steps, when you try to view the Contacts address book, Outlook 2000 may quit unexpectedly.
