The screen updates very slowly during the text mode part of the Setup program when you install one of the 64-bit editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 (838175)

SYMPTOMS

When you install one of the 64-bit editions of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the screen updates very slowly during the text mode part of the Setup program.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if console redirection is enabled in the basic input/output system (BIOS) of your computer. Even if no devices are attached to the communications (COM) port, data is transmitted to the COM port and to the display if console redirection is enabled.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, disable console redirection in the BIOS.
