Installation information

Before you install the hotfix that this article describes, you must remove the Q830903 hotfix. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
- Click Change or Remove Programs.
- Click Windows XP Hotfix (SP2) Q830903.
- Click Remove, and then click Next.
- Click Finish.
After you install this hotfix, you must modify the registry to turn on the feature. To do so, follow these steps:

For a per-machine policy, locate and then click the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
For a per-user policy, locate and then click the following key in the registry:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
- Type NoDetailsThumbnailOnNetwork, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify.
- Type 1, and then click OK.
