INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Outlook 2000 issue that is fixed in the Microsoft Outlook post-Service Pack 3 (SP3) hotfix package that is dated March 24, 2004.

Issues that are fixed in the hotfix package

The following issue is fixed in this hotfix package but was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • When you use the AutoArchive feature to archive items in Outlook 2000, you receive the following error message:
    Archive skips store due to error. Failed to open a source store. The information store could not be opened.
    This issue occurs when all the following conditions are true:
    • Outlook 2000 is configured to use a Microsoft Exchange server when you connect to the network.
    • Outlook 2000 is configured with a personal folder file (.pst) as the default delivery location.
    • Outlook 2000 is running in offline mode.
    • The AutoArchive feature is configured to archive folders other than your personal folder file.
