SYMPTOMSWhen
you try to
connect to
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services by using HTTP or by using HTTPS in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, Internet Explorer may stop responding or you may receive an "HTTP
500 (Internal Server Error)" error message in Internet Explorer.
Note This problem may not occur when you use the standard TCP/IP connection to connect to Analysis Services.CAUSEThis
problem occurs after you apply the Microsoft Internet Explorer Security Update MS04-004.

This problem also occurs after you apply the hotfix in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: 821814 You receive a "Page cannot be displayed" error message when you post to a site that requires authentication
This security update (MS04-004) and
the hotfix change how the Wininet.dll file retries POST requests with a blank
header when a Web server resets the connection. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, install the hotfix in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article on
