Bug #: 357004 (SQL Server 8.0)

Microsoft distributes SQL Server 2000 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

When you trace SQL Server activity with SQL Profiler or with other third party event tracing tools, you may receive an access violation in the CRowsetTraceData::FGetNextRow function. You may see an entry in the SQL Server error log that is similar to the following:

Short Stack Dump

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

This problem was first corrected in Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4.

MORE INFORMATION

Clients such as SQL Profiler that capture trace events from SQL Server are limited to capturing events that are less than 1 megabyte (MB). The error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section may occur when the event size approaches 1 MB but does not exceed 1 (MB), and the event queue has a backlog of events.
