You receive a "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items" message when you click Explorer View in a document library in Windows SharePoint Services or in SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft (837850)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services
- SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft
SYMPTOMSThe Web page that is used for Explorer view and for Folder
view of a document library contains an in-line frame (IFRAME) tag that has a
URL that is set to about:blank. The IFRAME tag is later redirected to the
correct location by a script. However, when the Web page loads, Microsoft
Internet Explorer detects the about:blank URL as a different protocol than the
https:// protocol that was originally used connect to the Web site. As a
result, Internet Explorer prompts you to verify whether you want to change
protocols. After you click either Yes or No
on the message, the message no longer appears on your screen, the in-line frame
(FRAME) tag is redirected to the correct location, and then the Web page opens
in Explorer view or in Folder view as expected.CAUSEThis behavior occurs if you connect to the document library
on the Web site by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). This behavior occurs
because of the way that Internet Explorer processes the "about:blank" (without
the quotation marks) URL that the in-line frame (IFRAME) tag on the Web page is
configured to use.RESOLUTIONTo work around this behavior, click either Yes
or No on the message that is described in the
"Symptoms" section. After you do so, the Web page opens as
expected in Explorer view.MORE INFORMATIONThe Web page that is used for Explorer view of a document
