You may receive a "Required registry information is missing and this application cannot run" error message when you try to open an .mde file (837812)

SYMPTOMSIf both Microsoft Access 2000 and Access 2000 Runtime are installed on your computer, you may notice the following problems when you use Access 2000: WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, you must remove Access 2000 Runtime from your computer. To do this, follow these steps: Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- In Add/Remove Programs, select Microsoft Access 2000 Runtime, and then click Remove.
- Click Yes to remove Access 2000 Runtime.
