Incorrect version information is displayed on the Help menu and Microsoft Project Professional 2002 crashes when you save a project to Microsoft Project Server 2002 SP1 (837606)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Project Server 2002
- Microsoft Project Professional 2002
SYMPTOMSWhen you use Microsoft Project Professional 2002 to connect
to and to log on to Microsoft Project Server 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may
experience the following symptoms:
- When you click About Microsoft Project on
the Help menu, the version information that appears is
displayed incorrectly as "SP1" (without the quotation marks).
- When you try to save a project to the server, Project
Professional 2002 crashes.
CAUSEThis issue may occur if both of the following conditions are
true:
- Project Server 2002 and Project Professional 2002 are
installed on the same computer.
- You upgrade the installation of Project Server 2002 to
Project Server 2002 SP1, but you do not upgrade the installation of Project
Professional 2002 to Microsoft Project 2002 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
Because of file dependencies, the same version of Microsoft
Project Server and Microsoft Project Professional must be installed on the
computer. If Project Server 2002 and Project Professional 2002 are installed on
the same computer, and you want to upgrade Project Server 2002 to Project
Server 2002 SP1, you must also install Project 2002 SP1 to upgrade Project
Professional 2002 to Project Professional 2002 SP1. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, install Project 2002 SP1 to upgrade
Project Professional 2002 to Project Professional 2002 SP1.
