You may not be able to open encrypted files on a wireless network after you change your password in Windows XP (837356)

SYMPTOMS

After you change your password in Microsoft Windows XP, you may not be able to access your encrypted files on a wireless network.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if wireless authentication fails after a Winlogon unlock operation. Data Protection API (DPAPI) does not perform a master key resynchronization.

RESOLUTION
