"Stop 0x000000DA" error occurs on a host computer after you start a virtual machine in Virtual PC 2004 (837339)

SYMPTOMSWhen you install Microsoft Virtual PC 2004, and then you start a
virtual machine, your host operating system may generate a "Stop 0x000000DA"
error in the Vmm.sys file. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the
TrackPTEs registry entry
has a value of 1. The TrackPTEs registry entry is of type DWORD, and it is located in
the following registry key on the host
computer: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, turn off the
TrackPTEs feature. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click
Run.
- Type regedit, and then click
OK.
- Locate the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Memory Management - Double-click TrackPTEs.
- In the Value data box, change the value to 0.
- Restart the host computer.
