Administratively assigned offline files or folders are unavailable for some users in Windows Server 2003 (837329)


The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

When you assign offline files or offline folders by using the Administratively assigned offline files feature in Group Policy, the files or folders that are marked for offline use may not be available offline for some users.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • The users who try to access the offline files or the offline folders did not access those files or those folders when they were online.
  • The offline file cache is encrypted.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
