Bug #: 471032 (SQL Server 8.0)
SQL Server 8.0:471032 Microsoft distributes SQL Server 2000 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release. SYMPTOMSWhen multiple users try to run extended stored procedures on an instance of SQL Server 2000 at the same time in a multi-user environment, the users may notice that the extended stored procedures take a long time to run.
Additionally, when you run an application that uses multiple extended stored procedures extensively, the scalability of your instance of SQL Server 2000 may be affected.
However, other users of the instance of SQL Server who are not running the extended stored procedures are not affected by this problem.
CAUSEEvery time that you run an extended stored procedure, the extended stored procedure acquires an exclusive latch multiple times to make sure that data integrity is maintained. When multiple users try to acquire the exclusive latches at the same time, latch contention occurs.RESOLUTIONService pack information
