The Live TV window may be blank when you resume from hibernation in Media Center on a portable computer (836813)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
SYMPTOMSWhen a portable computer that is running Microsoft Windows
XP Media Center Edition 2004 resumes from hibernation, the Live TV window in
Media Center may be blank and unresponsive.CAUSEWhen you run a portable computer on battery power, the
operating system may have to perform a critical hibernation shutdown if the
battery power is very low. A critical hibernation shuts the system down much
faster than a typical hibernation, and applications that are currently running
sometimes cannot correctly prepare for a hibernation state.
If
you are watching Live TV when a critical hibernation shutdown occurs, Media Center may
not be able to correctly prepare the Live TV video stream for hibernation in
time. Therefore, after the system resumes from hibernation, you may experience
the symptoms that are listed earlier in this article. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this behavior, restart Media Center.
STATUSMicrosoft
has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed
in the "Applies to" section of this article.
