FIX: Hotfixes are available for MDAC 2.7 Service Pack 1 (836799)

SUMMARY

Microsoft now distributes hotfixes for Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) as a single update file.

Because these hotfixes are cumulative, each new release of MDAC contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that are included with the previous release of MDAC 2.7 SP1. You do not have to install a previous update before you install the latest update.

This article contains a list of all the hotfixes that are available for MDAC 2.7 SP1.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Prerequisites

Before you install this update, you must have MDAC 2.7 SP1 installed.

To determine the version of MDAC that you are running, view the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DataAccess\FullInstallVer

The FullInstallVer key that you want to see is 2.71.xxxx.x.

Note After you install this update, you can expect the FullInstallVer key to read 2.71.9051.0.
