An "Event ID 2" error message is logged to the application event log when you synchronize the Enterprise Resource Pool with Active Directory in Project Server 2003 (836542)

SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office Project Server 2003, when you
synchronize the Enterprise Resource Pool with Active Directory, the following
error message is logged to the application event log: Type: Error Source: Microsoft Project Server Tracing Eventlog
Provider Category: None Event ID: 2 User: NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL
SERVICE Computer: ComputerName Component: AD Connector File: AutoADProcess Line: -1
Description: <Description><![CDATA[AD Res Pool Sync - failed to
issue the PDS Resource Deactivate
request]]></Description> CAUSEThis behavior may occur if one or both of the following
conditions are true:
- You try to deactivate a user in Project Server
2003.
- The synchronization operation does not successfully update
the Active Directory Globally-Unique Identifier (AD GUID) for a user.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, turn off the Clear
User AD GUID option for the appropriate user, and then synchronize the
Enterprise Resource Pool with Active Directory. To do so, follow these steps:
- Log on as an administrator to Microsoft Office Project Web
Access 2003.
- Turn off the Clear User AD GUID option for
the user. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Admin. On the Administration
overview page, click Manage users and groups.
- On the Users page, click the user who you want to
modify, and then click Modify user.
- On the Modify User page, click to clear the
Clear User AD GUID check box.
Note The Clear User AD GUID check box is only
selected for Project Server 2003 users who have an AD GUID and who use
Microsoft Windows authentication. - Click Save Changes.
- Synchronize the Enterprise Resource Pool with Active
Directory. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Admin. On the Administration
overview page, click Server configuration.
- On the Server configuration page, in the Active
Directory Group to Synchronize box, type the name of Active Directory
group that you want to synchronize.
- Click Update only when specified, and
then click Update Now.
- Press F5 to refresh the Web page, and then click
Save Changes.
Sometimes you may have to perform the
synchronization operation two times. To perform the synchronization operation
again, repeat steps b and c.
- Click Admin. On the Administration
overview page, click Manage users and groups.
- On the Users page, click the user, and then click
Modify user.
- On the Modify User page, verify that either one or both of
the following conditions are true, depending on your situation:
- The Clear User AD GUID check box is
selected.
- The account status of the user is set to
Inactive.
