SYMPTOMSWhen you try to configure a wireless network computer by
using a saved network settings file in the Microsoft Broadband Networking Setup
Configuration Wizard, you may receive an error message that is similar to the
following: Incorrect wireless network name (SSID)
The network settings file does not contain the settings
for an available network. To connect to an available network, click OK and
enter the settings required. CAUSEThis issue may occur if your base station is configured not
to broadcast the wireless network name (SSID).
When you configure a
wireless network computer by using the Microsoft Broadband Networking Setup
Configuration Wizard, the wizard searches for available SSIDs. If no SSID is
available, the Setup program attributes this to a configuration error in your
saved network settings file. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, configure your base station to
broadcast the SSID when you install new wireless components. To do this, follow
these steps:
- Log on to the Base Station Management Tool.
- In the left navigation pane, click
Wireless.
- Click to select the Broadcast wireless network name
(SSID) (Recommended) check box.
- Click Apply.
If you want to disable SSID broadcast , do so after you complete
the installation of your new wireless networking component.
