INTRODUCTION

This article discusses a limitation in the configuration options for the Message Queuing transport adapter (also known as the MSMQT adapter) send and receive handlers in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use the Send Handler Wizard or in the Receive Handler Wizard to create a new BizTalk Message Queuing send handler or receive handler for the Message Queuing transport adapter. However, in the wizard, you cannot select a BizTalk host in the Host Name list that is different from the BizTalk host that was specified for the Message Queuing transport adapter when it was activated.

If you try to set the BizTalk host name for a send handler or for a receive handler to a different host, you receive an error message that is similar to the following:
This adapter requires static handler configuration. No new receive handlers may be created for this adapter. Existing handlers cannot be switched to different BizTalk Host.

CAUSE

The Message Queuing transport adapter can only be installed on one BizTalk host.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
