SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, you may find that you cannot establish a trust relationship between two domains if one of the domains is named "Internet" (without the quotation marks).

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Local Security Authority (LSA) in Windows 2000 Server cannot create a trust account that is named "Internet". "Internet" is a restricted name that has a security identifier (SID) of S-1-7. Although you can name a Windows 2000-based computer or a Windows 2000 domain "Internet", you cannot establish a trust to a domain that is named "Internet".
