You cannot delete a new MessageBox in BizTalk Server 2004 (835863)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Developer Edition
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Enterprise Edition
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Partner Edition
- Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 Standard Edition
SYMPTOMSIf you create a new MessageBox in the Microsoft BizTalk
Server 2004 Administration Console with the Disable new message
publication option enabled, and then you try to delete the MessageBox
immediately, you receive the following error message: The
MessageBox cannot be deleted because it may still contain incomplete instances.
Ensure that there are no incomplete instances in the MessageBox, and try
again. CAUSEBizTalk Server does not know for sure that there are no
active instances of a MessageBox. The error message that is described in the
"Symptoms" section of this article is a generic error message to tell users
that there may be incomplete instances.RESOLUTIONOnce you create the MessageBox, you must wait until the
cache refresh interval passes before you delete the MessageBox. This delay
makes sure that there are no active instances. To determine the cache
refresh interval, follow these steps:
- Open the BizTalk Server 2004 Administration MMC
snap-in.
- Right-click Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004,
and then click Properties.
- Click the General tab.
The value of the cache refresh interval is displayed in seconds.
After you disable the MessageBox publication, wait until two times the specified cache refresh interval has elapsed before you try to delete the MessageBox. For example, if the cache refresh interval is 15 seconds, wait 30 seconds before you try to delete the MessageBox. STATUS This
behavior is by design.
