The system may stop responding when you access a file over a network, and then you suspend and resume the device (835470)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows CE .NET 4.1

SYMPTOMS

If you open a file on a network share, and then you suspend your device, the system may respond very slowly or may stop responding when the device resumes from the suspended state.

CAUSE

After a device is suspended and resumed, any handle to a network resource that was created before the device was suspended is not valid, and an error occurs when a program tries to access an open file. If a program opens a file on a network share by using Memory Mapped File I/O, and the operating system tries to perform a demand page operation from the file, the network redirector raises an ERROR_VC_DISCONNECTED error. Because the paging function does not handle this error correctly, the paging function retries the operation in an infinite loop.
