Clicking hyperlink in an Outlook Express e-mail message, causes Internet Explorer to display a 404 Object Not Found error page (835383)

SYMPTOMSWhen you click a hyperlink in an e-mail message in Microsoft Outlook Express, the wrong page appears in Microsoft Internet Explorer, or the following error page appears: http:/1.0 404 Object Not Found CAUSEThis problem occurs because the e-mail message that you receive is a UTF-8 encoded message, and the message contains a URL that includes Unicode characters in the address string. Outlook Express cannot interpret the Unicode characters correctly. Therefore, Outlook Express passes the wrong URL address to Internet Explorer.WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use any one of the following methods: - In Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, click Advanced, and then click to clear the Always send URL's as UTF-8 (requires restart) check box.
- Paste the URL address into the Address box in Internet Explorer.
