occur:
- Graphic routines in an Office 2003 program compete with
other programs for use of direct access to the display buffer.
- The computer is heavily loaded, and the Display Control
Interface (DCI) times out.
- The DCI lock is changed without notifying the Microsoft
Office 2003 program.
- The Display modes have been changed in Microsoft
Windows.
- A DirectX full-screen activation (possibly when a program
is running in a window) occurs.
- A window repositioning occurs.
The probability of experiencing this problem goes up when you
use other programs that use DCI or DirectX, or both, thereby competing with
GDI+ for use of direct access to the display buffer. Examples of such
programs include some video teleconferencing programs, including Microsoft
NetMeeting, OpenGL-based programs, and games. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, do not run graphic-intensive
programs while you are running your Office 2003 program, or turn the graphics
hardware acceleration off on your computer. To turn graphics hardware
acceleration off, use the method that is appropriate for your Microsoft Windows
operating system. Method 1: Use for Microsoft Windows XP- Click Start, and then click
Control Panel.
- Click Appearance and Themes.
- Click Display.
- On the Settings tab, click
Advanced.
- On the Troubleshoot tab, move the
Hardware acceleration slider control to the third position
(from the left), and then click OK.
Note The following message is the description for this
position:Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D
accelerations, as well as all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations. Use
this setting to correct severe problems with DirectX accelerated
applications. - Click OK to close the Display

Method 2: Use for Microsoft Windows 2000- Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click Display.
- On the Settings tab, click
Advanced.
