SYMPTOMS

When you start a program in Microsoft Windows XP, the program may take longer than expected to start.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you turn on client-side caching in Windows XP, and the program that you start accesses a mapped drive that has been cached offline by client-side caching.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing.
