The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Virtual PC 2004
SYMPTOMS After you install Virtual Machine Additions on a
Microsoft Windows 2000 or Windows XP guest operating system, the hibernation feature may not
be available in the Shutdown menu or in the Power Options settings.CAUSE This behavior occurs when you install Virtual
Machine Additions because a system driver is installed that is not compatible with the
hibernation feature.RESOLUTION To resolve this behavior, remove Virtual Machine
Additions from the virtual machine if you must have the hibernation feature.

folder sharing, drag-and-drop functionality, mouse integration, and real-time
clock synchronization from the virtual machine. To
remove the Virtual Machine Additions from the virtual machine, follow these
steps:
- Click Start, point to
Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove
Programs.
- Click Virtual Machine Additions, and then
click Remove.
- Click Yes, and then click
OK.
- Restart the virtual machine when you are prompted.
