Users cannot connect to an Exchange 2000 server when you change the system clock and then add or remove users in a folder (834117)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Enterprise Server

SYMPTOMS

When you reset the system clock on a computer that is running Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server, and then you immediately take one of the following actions, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service may stop running, and users may not be able to connect to the Exchange server:
  • You add or remove users in a folder.
  • You change user permissions in a folder.
Additionally, users of Microsoft Office Outlook cannot open their mailboxes, and they receive one of the following error messages:
The server is unavailable.
There is a network connectivity issue that prevents you from connecting to the Exchange Server.
Unable to connect to the server.
The server could not be found.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the August 2004 Exchange 2000 Server Post-Service Pack 3 update rollup.
