Method 1: Change the default mail client to Microsoft Outlook To do this, follow these steps: - Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
- Click the Programs tab.
- In the E-mail box, select Microsoft Outlook.
- Click OK.
Method 2: Verify the registry settingsWarning If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. - Close all your open programs in Microsoft Windows.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Messaging Subsystem registry key.
- You should have the following registry values listed in the Windows Messaging Subsystem key:
Name | Type | Data | MAPI | REG_SZ | 1 | CMC | REG_SZ | 1 | CMCDLLNAME | REG_SZ | Mapi.dll | CMCDLLNAME32 | REG_SZ | Mapi32.dll | MAPIX | REG_SZ | 1 | MAPIXVER | REG_SZ | 1.0.0.1 | OLEMessaging | REG_SZ | 1 |
- If any one of the registry values are missing in the Windows Messaging Subsystem key of the registry, follow these steps to add the values:
- With the Windows Messaging Subsystem key selected, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click String Value.
- Type the name of the value that is missing from your registry as it is listed in the table that is in step 5, and then press ENTER.
- With the value from step 6b selected, click Modify on the Edit menu.
- In the Value data box of the Edit String dialog box, type the value for the missing string value.
- Repeat steps 6a to 6d for each value that is missing from the table that is in step 5.
- On the File menu, click Exit.
Most Office 2003 programs display the e-mail options automatically if the required registry keys are present.
If your Office 2003 program does not display the e-mail options after you complete these steps, you must add the e-mail options to your Office 2003 program. To do this, following these steps: - On the Tools menu, click Customize.
- On the Commands tab, click File in the Categories list.
- In the Commands list, click the command that you want (such as Mail Recipient), and then drag the command to the File menu.
- Click Close to close the Customize dialog box.
