BUG: The ProfileItems directive is not supported in Windows 2000 device driver .inf files (833606)

SUMMARYThe ProfileItems directive is used in a Microsoft Windows Device Driver setup information file (.inf file) to add or to remove items on the Start menu. However, this directive cannot be used to add shortcuts to the Start menu in Microsoft Windows 2000.WORKAROUNDTo work around this bug, use a Windows device driver co-installer. A co-installer is a DLL that contains custom functionality that a device driver installation requires. You can use the IShellLink interface in the co-installer to create items in the Start menu.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.
