FIX: The resource ID appears instead of the resource name for dialog resources after you check out a project from source control (833550)

SYMPTOMS

If a project contains a dialog resource, and you check in the project to source control, and then you check out the project again, the integer resource ID for the dialog resource appears instead of the resource name.

Typically, this problem occurs if the Context Help flag for the dialog resource that the project contains is set to TRUE and if any one of the following is true:
  • You use a different computer to check out the project from source control than you used to check in the project.
  • You check out the project on the same computer that you checked it in on. However, you check out the project to a different folder that you checked it in from.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.
