Virtual PC 2004 stops responding when it starts a virtual machine (833506)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to start a Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 virtual
machine that is running on a Microsoft Windows XP-based host operating system,
Virtual PC may stop responding (hang). Virtual PC may also stop responding when you
try to create a new virtual machine or a new hard-disk image.CAUSEThis problem occurs when you run Virtual PC 2004 on a
physical computer that has a Uniprocessor AMD Athlon or Intel P4 processor
installed.RESOLUTIONA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Virtual PC service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
