"Internal Server Error" error message when you try to view Document or Interchange data on the BizTalk Tracking Web site (833353)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BizTalk Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

If you run a query on the Microsoft BizTalk Server Tracking Web site, the query generates a Query Results page. This Query Results page contains line items that represent the interchanges and the documents that the query returns.

If you click the icons that these line items contain, the Document instance data, the Interchange data, or the XLANG schedule that is stored in the tracking database for that interchange or for that document should appear. However, if you click the icons to view the Document instance data, the Interchange data, or the XLANG schedule, you receive the following error message in a dialog box:
Internal Server Error

CAUSE

This problem occurs because some ASP pages that the BizTalk Tracking Web site contains do not correctly parse the connection string that is used to connect to the BizTalk Server tracking database.

The connection string is stored in the file Connection.vbs. This file is located in the Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server\BizTalkTracking\VBScripts folder of your computer that is running BizTalk Server. This error might occur if the Connection.vbs file has been opened and then has been saved by using an encoding type other than Unicode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, save the Connection.vbs file by using Unicode encoding:
  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Notepad.
  2. On the File menu, click Open. The Open dialog box appears.
  3. In the Open dialog box, locate the Connection.vbs file. This file is located in the Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server\BizTalkTracking\VBScripts folder of your computer that is running BizTalk Server.
  4. Double-click the connection.vbs file to open it.
  5. On the File menu, click Save As. The Save As dialog box appears.
  6. In the Save As dialog box, click Unicode in the Encoding drop-down list box, and then click Save.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
