Software installations take longer than expected on a Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004-based computer (833248)

CAUSE

This problem occurs when a component of the Media Center is loaded into memory. This component, EhRec.exe, causes delays for installation software that use the InstallShield installation package. This behavior occurs with InstallShield version 5.00.000 through version 5.53.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, you must download the critical update for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004. This update is available on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Release Date: December 10, 2003
