SYMPTOMSWhen you install software on your Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004-based computer, the installation time may be longer than you expect. The installation is slow. It may take more than an hour.CAUSEThis problem occurs when a component of the Media Center is loaded into memory. This component, EhRec.exe, causes delays for installation software that use the InstallShield installation package. This behavior occurs with InstallShield version 5.00.000 through version 5.53.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, you must download the critical update for Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004. This update is available on the Microsoft Windows Update Web site:
