"You must have a valid SMS End User License Agreement (EULA) to install Microsoft Network Monitor 2.1 Full" error message when you try to install Network Monitor by running Netmonsetup.exe (833170)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

When you try to install the full version of Network Monitor by running the Netmonsetup.exe setup program, you receive the following error message:
You must have a valid End User License Agreement (EULA) to install Network Monitor 2.1 Full

Installation cannot continue.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if you copy the Netmonsetup.exe file from the Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 CD-ROM to another location and then you try to run the program by itself from that location. This try fails because the Netmonsetup.exe program points to the SMSsetup folder on the SMS 2003 CD-ROM to locate the End-User License Agreement (EULA).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, run the Netmonsetup.exe program from the SMS 2003 CD-ROM or from an SMS 2003 CD-ROM image that is located on a network share.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
