Text and tables are inserted outside the active section in an Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals document (832946)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Office Word 2003
- Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals
SYMPTOMSWhen you add text or a table to the end of an inline section
in a Microsoft Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals document that is
opened from your Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services Web site in Microsoft
Office Word 2003, the text or the table that you add may not be selected as
part of the section when you click the section name in the Documents
Action task pane.CAUSEThis behavior may occur if the text or the table is added
outside an inline XML tag.WORKAROUNDTo work around this behavior, toggle the XML tags so that
your inline XML tags show in your Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals document,
make your inline XML tag a block XML tag, and then add your text or your table
inside the block XML tags. To do this, follow these steps:
- Edit your Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals document in
Word 2003.
- On the Document Actions task pane, click
Options and Help.
- In the Options area, click Toggle
XML tags.
You should now see section tags at the beginning
and at the end of each assigned section in your document. Sections that are
marked by block XML tags will have a white background, while sections that are
marked by inline XML tags will have a colored background. - If you want to insert text with carriage returns or a table
into an inline XML section, first change the inline XML section to a block
section by making it its own paragraph.
To do this, move the
insertion point before you open inline XML tag, and then press ENTER. Then,
move the insertion point immediately after the closing inline XML tag, and then
press ENTER.
When you click the section name on the Document
Actions task pane to select the section text that you want, your new
text or table is selected as part of the section. To select section
text from the Document Actions task pane, follow these steps:
- On the Document Actions task pane, click
Sections.
Note Sections is at the top of the Document
Actions task pane immediately under Proposals
Accelerator. - In the Sections area of the
Document Actions task pane, click the name of the section you
want to select in the Sections list.
MORE INFORMATIONWord 2003 supports two different kinds of XML tags; block
tags and inline tags. A block XML tag contains one or more complete paragraphs
of text, and can contain both carriage returns and tables. An inline XML tag
contains text inside a paragraph, and does not support either carriage returns
or tables. Whenever necessary, Word will try to convert an inline XML tag to a
block XML tag, but in some scenarios, this will not be
possible.
Office Solution Accelerator for Proposals uses XML
tags to identify the sections of a proposal document. If you try to insert
carriage returns or tables into a section that is marked by an inline XML tag,
Word will try to convert the tag to a block XML tag. If this is not possible,
Word will insert the table or text outside the section.
